Blog 3

Artist: Kagaya - he is from Japan, and he is a digital artist who works with computer graphics paintings.
Luna Garden

Splendor

1. Why does this artist appeal to you?
This artist appeals to me because his artwork is detailed and somewhere between a cartoon and real picture.
2. What are the Big Ideas in their work? In these two drawings the big idea is just friendships of two entities hanging out surrounded by beautiful scenery. In one drawing they are looking at each other and in the other they are holding each other looking off into the distance.
3. What do you find inspiring about the work?
What sorts of questions, curiosities, inspirations arise from your encounter with the artist’s work? I like the attention to detail and how each entity is connected via touch or eye contact.

4. How will you use this artist to inspire your final project?
I am going to use the idea of two or more entities hanging out and together. I will also use the idea of looking off into the distance at a common focal point so rear views of them.

5. What stylistic components can you learn to make your work stronger?
I want to use these images that portray depth and show perspective. I want to make full scenes that are uniformly blended together kind of like an anti aliased scene.

6. What approaches to making an artwork that the artist uses can help you?
I am going to make use of two entities friendships such as a person and animal. I am going to use perspective like that is shown in the Splendor Drawing of the boat, the lake in the distance.

Both images are on this page and don’t uniquely have an address. Look for Splendor and Luna Garden titles.

Artist: Ein Lee - He does Anima.

Halloween Kingdom Hearts

Spring fashion

Vanilla VS Chocolate

1. Why does this artist appeal to you?
I like the mix of entities and how they are shaped and interacting together. The hair in the Halloween one is very unique in that its jagged.

2. What are the Big Ideas in their work?
Here its several entities hanging out together as friends. You have a animal and a human in one, and multiple people hanging out in the other for a Halloween event. Just a bunch of people sharing and event together as friends do.

3. What do you find inspiring about the work? What sorts of questions, curiosities, inspirations arise from your encounter with the artist’s work?
I wonder about where this style is derived from in terms of the types of shadows, hairstyles and how each of the entities have lines drawn around them to make them sort of cartoon like. In the Spring fashion one what are the two thinking about as they sit there. What is the meaning of the simple colors green and red and yellow. And the meaning of the flowers. Maybe the monkey is a pet who she is sharing a friendship with.

4. How will you use this artist to inspire your final project?
I am going to use the idea of an animal and human together and in the other drawings going to use the idea of these entities sitting close to each other to show their friendships.

5. What stylistic components can you learn to make your work stronger?
There is a lot of layering here. In the Halloween one there are some good blending techniques used here with the trees in the background, the mist and the moonlight.

6. What approaches to making an artwork that the artist uses can help you? I am going to have some sections in some of my artwork that have groups of people lined up next to each other looking at the viewer.

7. Provide a hyperlink to the website where the images and artist were found.

Extra: this isn’t required in the blog but I find this next picture by Nishant Ranka really cool looking in the use of computer techniques. This I think is a real image that has been converted because the detail on the trees are amazing. This picture excites me because of the way the sky and blending has been done. The shadows on the ground help give it depth perception.
