The Bedtime Stories movie poster was designed with a white background, bright colors and objects that almost look like candy raining down to appeal to children. The lettering is large and bright blue with a Walt Disney logo displayed. The text is a type of text that is non-scary. Adam Sandler is face forward in good lighting showing his face. This contrasts greatly to the Resident evil’s extinction poster where the colors are mostly of three colors types, black, red and yellow. The picture is set up to be desolate and dreary such as spooky ruins in a landscape setting with foggy effects in the background. The Vegas poster is titled to the side to represent the desolateness of the scene. The main character, Milla Jovovich, is in silhouette form looking away from the audience towards the desolate Vegas. This type of poster is appealing to action adventure/scary suspense/mystery type audience. I am going to change up these posters by changing the colors to be from happy bright colors to dark scary colors in the Bedtime Stories. In the other I would add a pregnate version of the actor and have her facing towards the viewer as opposed to away, and would change the colors to be bright and not dreary. To shift the way the movie perceptions would be. But only 1 poster will be changed for this quiz4 and it will be the Bedtime Stories one.

1. What is the most significant accomplishment in looking at your Midterm or Final?
Well in looking at my midterm on the Series 1 drawing where you see a fence going down a path. It was a challenge to get the perspective just right on this going down the path where objects had to be rotated and positioned. I used the stamp tool tool copy portions of the floor to make it look like a myst that spread out from one edge of the bridge path to the other. This gave objects in the distance kind of harder to see. If you look at the far right there are two friends jumping into the air this is elusive to the eye at first.
2. Choose a project in the class and discuss your most challenging learning experience in Photoshop. Focus on a technique or concept from Photoshop that was difficult at first, but that you mastered by the end of the quarter.
The most challenging experience was in that when you have many different layers each of those objects on those layers only take upon a certain portion of the view area. At first I didnt realise this and I would try to manipulate an area of the drawing but nothing would happen. A significant mile stone was reached when I learned that I had to select the layer I wanted to work on and modify thepicture in the area it was located at in the view. But then if I want to apply an adjustment layer it was challenging at first to fiure out the logic on that it affects everything below it in the layers tree. On the ajustment layer if I want it to only affect the layer just below it I needed to create a clipping mask on it. This allowed me to go forth with some cool things and control the chaos that I thought was going on initialy.
3. Compare two projects from the quarter to compare and contrast how you achieved making meaning in the work. Try to showcase in your examples an improved capacity to making visual images that mean something as opposed to being a showcase of technique.
In quiz1 I showed two types of games quake3 and unreal tournament 3 and they were placed onto a path that came from a bunch of grasses that created kind of a tunnel look. The meaning here is one of these two games will win the path of the gamer in which games he plays in his life during a timre period. For me personally its quake 3. In comparing this to Midterm Series1 here I am sitting at the end looking out into the sea down a bridge and there are groups of friends either looking into the path or looking down the path. So both of these pieces of artwork show some parallelism in usinging a path that aligns it to some meaning. Here are the two pices of artwork being compared.

1. Artist Statement:
As an analogous representation of friendships in my life in a dreamy vision, I see friends coming into and out of my life via a dreamy landscape. I see them walking down a path towards me from the distance. They start to walk down a path towards me and some of them are still on this path and stop next to me. Some stop by me and leave and go away through a door where they have shut themselves out into a harder area to see in the foggy distance, and lastly, some start towards me and then stray off into a fiery and smoky area poisoning their friendship and straying off through the door same door as described earlier.
The strategy I will use is to use existing pictures from my past, create a picture of a path or road going off into the distance. The main background image came from a screen shot of the Grizzly Hills in World of Warcraft one of my favorite areas of the virtual world, the fiery tree and stump that I am coming out of are from a vacation in Lake Tahoe and the fiery overlay is from a cookout with a bunch of friends. This landscape is to be used by allowing me to visually map who of my friends in the past are still with me or not with me or have drifted off, fallen off my map of connectedness.
2. An artist that I encountered that makes use of techniques in Photoshop to put kind of an electric look to a shadow of people I am thinking of using in my final. Here is an example that I found on google images titled dsm09499-2-2-2 firelight:
I like this type of genre because it would be cool to make me in the distance look like this as a dreamy way of me looking into my past as I view all my friends from the past. Like I’m magical and can look at everyone on a path as to who is in my life and who isn’t.
I also like this style for the type of path. I will need to hunt around town though to take my own pictures of one. I want a path that is interesting and not necessarily a straight path. I saw one driving home the other day close to where I live that I think I will photograph. But this example is from
http://www.public-domain-image.com/nature-landscape/garden-park/slides/path-on-peat-moor-in-sepia-colour.jpg
I find this next picture by Nishant Ranka really cool looking in the use of computer techniques as I mentioned at the end of blog 3. Again I think is a real image that has been converted because the detail on the trees are amazing. This picture excites me. The sky is really amazing looking with the level of blending done. And the shadows on the ground. The shadows help give it depth perception. I want to attempt to use this kind of technique for my sky and to make a background behind my friends. It gives a mysterious look and anyone not on my path I want it to kind of be a mysterious zone.

3. I am thinking of using Bourne Ultimatum Color and Motion Blur and also incorporate actual motion in my picture.

Artist: Kagaya - he is from Japan, and he is a digital artist who works with computer graphics paintings.

1. Why does this artist appeal to you?
This artist appeals to me because his artwork is detailed and somewhere between a cartoon and real picture.
2. What are the Big Ideas in their work? In these two drawings the big idea is just friendships of two entities hanging out surrounded by beautiful scenery. In one drawing they are looking at each other and in the other they are holding each other looking off into the distance.
3. What do you find inspiring about the work?
What sorts of questions, curiosities, inspirations arise from your encounter with the artist’s work? I like the attention to detail and how each entity is connected via touch or eye contact.
4. How will you use this artist to inspire your final project?
I am going to use the idea of two or more entities hanging out and together. I will also use the idea of looking off into the distance at a common focal point so rear views of them.
5. What stylistic components can you learn to make your work stronger?
I want to use these images that portray depth and show perspective. I want to make full scenes that are uniformly blended together kind of like an anti aliased scene.
6. What approaches to making an artwork that the artist uses can help you?
I am going to make use of two entities friendships such as a person and animal. I am going to use perspective like that is shown in the Splendor Drawing of the boat, the lake in the distance.
7. Provide a hyperlink to the website where the images and artist were found.
Both images are on this page and don’t uniquely have an address. Look for Splendor and Luna Garden titles.

1. Why does this artist appeal to you?
I like the mix of entities and how they are shaped and interacting together. The hair in the Halloween one is very unique in that its jagged.
2. What are the Big Ideas in their work?
Here its several entities hanging out together as friends. You have a animal and a human in one, and multiple people hanging out in the other for a Halloween event. Just a bunch of people sharing and event together as friends do.
3. What do you find inspiring about the work? What sorts of questions, curiosities, inspirations arise from your encounter with the artist’s work?
I wonder about where this style is derived from in terms of the types of shadows, hairstyles and how each of the entities have lines drawn around them to make them sort of cartoon like. In the Spring fashion one what are the two thinking about as they sit there. What is the meaning of the simple colors green and red and yellow. And the meaning of the flowers. Maybe the monkey is a pet who she is sharing a friendship with.
4. How will you use this artist to inspire your final project?
I am going to use the idea of an animal and human together and in the other drawings going to use the idea of these entities sitting close to each other to show their friendships.
5. What stylistic components can you learn to make your work stronger?
There is a lot of layering here. In the Halloween one there are some good blending techniques used here with the trees in the background, the mist and the moonlight.
6. What approaches to making an artwork that the artist uses can help you? I am going to have some sections in some of my artwork that have groups of people lined up next to each other looking at the viewer.
7. Provide a hyperlink to the website where the images and artist were found.

Midterm Artist Statement
The big idea is about friendships. This is with the use of animals hanging out with animals, kinds together, groups of girls and people enjoying them selves in larger groups. The theme is friends and perspective. The strategy I use to express this is placing a picture that shows perspective and orientating entities in 3d orientations. Friendships are important to me because it is nice to have people you can trust, inside jokes and security that you won’t be alone as once in my life I was quite alone.

Well on the Beautiful Decay link for artist Caleb Charland at http://beautifuldecay.com/2010/07/27/caleb-charland/ go to picture #1 lets look at the denotations of this. Here I see only a few colors of red, yellow and green. The background consists of a grassy area with vegetation in the backdrop. Overlayed on top of this is a bunch of light trails or sparks and when they arc down and hit the ground they catch on fire. In the center there is a subtracted area of a human figure. The connotations of this give a silhouette of a person that could represent a person with magical powers or a ghost that is walking in the woods and you can only see a trail of fire light coming from it. With all the action hero movies out there this could lead me to believe this is the artists intentions.
For our 2nd picture, lets look at picture #5 on that link. The denotations of this work are there is a room with white walls that look a little dirty, a power cord shown at the bottom leaving a outlet. On the floor there is a circular piece of artwork that looks like its part of the tiles. Above all this is a lighted area made of flames making a sphere. The flames towards the middle have a little bit of a blurr appearance. In the very center that blur appearance is removed by the outline of a body facing to the left. It is overlapped by flames. I think the connotative meaning here is that it again is some super hero ghost because of all the movies out there. This person has some magical glow about them. This is an interesting shot because it makes this look real inside a regular room nothing fancy about it.
