Well on the Beautiful Decay link for artist Caleb Charland at
http://beautifuldecay.com/2010/07/27/caleb-charland/ go to picture #1 lets look at the denotations of this. Here I see only a few colors of red, yellow and green. The background consists of a grassy area with vegetation in the backdrop. Overlayed on top of this is a bunch of light trails or sparks and when they arc down and hit the ground they catch on fire. In the center there is a subtracted area of a human figure. The connotations of this give a silhouette of a person that could represent a person with magical powers or a ghost that is walking in the woods and you can only see a trail of fire light coming from it. With all the action hero movies out there this could lead me to believe this is the artists intentions.
For our 2nd picture, lets look at picture #5 on that link. The denotations of this work are there is a room with white walls that look a little dirty, a power cord shown at the bottom leaving a outlet. On the floor there is a circular piece of artwork that looks like its part of the tiles. Above all this is a lighted area made of flames making a sphere. The flames towards the middle have a little bit of a blurr appearance. In the very center that blur appearance is removed by the outline of a body facing to the left. It is overlapped by flames. I think the connotative meaning here is that it again is some super hero ghost because of all the movies out there. This person has some magical glow about them. This is an interesting shot because it makes this look real inside a regular room nothing fancy about it.
